Mary ‘Mamie’ Andrews

Member Of The Order Of The Eastern Star

Mary “Mamie” Andrews, 82, of Toddy Hill Road, Newtown, beloved wife of the late Joseph Andrews, died at Ashlar of Newtown on December 18.

Mrs Andrews was born in Saltcoats, Scotland, September 4, 1923, daughter of James and Ellen (Cambridge) Battersby. She attended schools in Scotland and came to the United States in 1953. She worked as an inspector for the Pitney Bowes Company of Danbury for 14 years, retiring in 1986. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed crafts and ceramics and was a member of the St Paul Episcopal Church, Brookfield, and the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Ian Andrews of Newtown, David and Wendy Andrews of Brookfield, Gordon and Susan Andrews of Danbury, and James and Lisa Andrews of Waterbury; a brother, James Battersby of New Milford; and 11 grandchildren, Michael, Karen, Christopher, Jason, Ryan, Amy, Jeffrey, Joseph, David, Sara, and James; and one great-grandchild, Amber. She was predeceased by a brother, John Battersby.

There will be no calling hours.

Cremation will take place at the direction of the family.

Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family.
