Margery S. Hubert, 97, died May 9, Motherâs Day, at Masonicare at Newtown. She was born in 1913 in Stamford, daughter of Harry W. Smith of Pound Ridge, N.Y., and Andrena Leitch of Elie, Scotland.
She graduated from Barnard College in 1935 with degree in history and worked in the placement office at Barnard for several years.
In 1941 she married Douglas G. Hubert of Yonkers, N.Y. They had two children, Richard and Margery, and lived in the Crestwood section of Yonkers until their move to West Hartford in 1960. They were members of Asbury Crestwood United Methodist Church in Yonkers and the First Church Congregational in West Hartford.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was active in the Sarah Hooker Chapter in West Hartford for many years. Mrs Hubert and her husband were lifetime summer residents of Tupper Lake, N.Y. She liked history and historical novels, gardening, and social bridge clubs.
Mrs Hubert is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Richard G. and Patricia Hubert of Newtown, and her daughter and son-in-law, Margery H. and Kenyon Wells of Beaverton, Ore. She has four grandchildren. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
