JOHN FRAME AT LONG BEACH MUSEUM OF ART JANUARY 7

tg/lsb set 12-21 #613870

LONG BEACH, CALIF. — The Long Beach Museum of Art will exhibit, “Enigma Variations: The Sculpture of John Frame, 1980–2005,” January 7–April 10. The exhibition will include more than 40 works from public and private collections throughout the country, featuring seminal work from the early 1980s, sculptural tableaux of the late 1990s, and several of Frame’s most recent works.

Best known for his highly evocative, somewhat enigmatic work that combines found objects with superbly crafted wood forms, John Frame creates figurative sculpture that is at once, poetic, dramatic and richly multilayered. “Enigma Variations,” will explore the development of the artist’s work over a 25-year period with a particular emphasis on the work he has produced since 1992, the year of his major exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

The museum is at 2300 East Ocean Boulevard. Hours are 11 am to 5 pm, Tuesday–Sunday and open until 8 pm on Thursday.
