To the Editor:

I write to endorse Moira B. Rodgers for Probate Judge of Newtown.

I have known Moira for about a decade. She is a longtime member of the Republican Town Committee and assisted me in various ways in my own political activities.

I also have interacted socially with Moira for years. I know her to be an intelligent, pleasant, caring person who has devoted countless volunteer hours to Newtown. Indeed, I worked with Moira personally on town bodies and witnessed firsthand the decisiveness and integrity she brought to proceedings.

Professionally speaking, I know Moira is a Connecticut attorney. Moira practiced at large firms in Hartford and more recently managed her husband Will’s practice when he was deployed to Iraq.

My knowledge of and endorsement of Moira is based on my independent relationship with her, not my similar knowledge of and interactive with her husband Will, longtime Legislative Council chair and current candidate for Board of Selectmen. It is important to note (and Will would be the first one to affirm) that Moira is her own person, whose achievements are the result of her impressive education and hard work on behalf of Newtown.

I believe Moira to be the most qualified candidate for Probate Judge of Newtown.
