A Waste Of Time

And Money

To the Editor:

I would just like to say it was irresponsible for the first selectman and the Legislative Council to have over 4,000 voters vote on less than a quarter percent reduction in the budget request. That was a big waste of time and money and surely was designed to wear the voters out.

The taxpayers of Newtown want a zero increase. The point is not that the tax rate will only increase one percent; the point is we pay way too much in taxes already. It’s time to give the taxpayers what they want, a zero increase budget without the threat of a total collapse in town services and the education system.
