Lawrence F. Dieringer

Lawrence F. Dieringer, 85, of Colchester, Vt., formerly of Newtown, died January 16 in the Green Mountain Valley Nursing Center in Colchester. Mr Dieringer was the husband of the late Doris (Carlson) Dieringer.

He was born in Dumont, N.J., on November 8, 1919, a son of the late Lawrence and Frances (Ahrens) Dieringer. Larry was a graduate of Lehigh University and earned a master’s degree in chemical engineering from New York University. He was an industrial hygienist for General Electric Corp and later for Uniroyal Corporation.

Mr Dieringer was a Navy Veteran of World War II.

A resident of Newtown from 1965 to 2002, Larry was an active member of the Newtown Congregational Church, where he served as head deacon and on many committees.

Mr Dieringer is survived by two sons, Lawrence F. Dieringer, Jr of Arlington, Mass., and Jon Dieringer of Milton, Vt.; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held January 20 in the Newtown Congregational Church.

Burial will be in Newtown Village Cemetery in the spring.
