Girl Scouts of Connecticut is proud to announce that Lin Walsh of Newtown was awarded the organizationâs 60-Year Pin in recognition of more than a half a century of continued membership and support. Ms Walsh received a certificate and her 60-Year Pin during Girl Scouts of Connecticutâs Annual Meeting on May 23.
In addition, Ms Walsh received her 50-year Volunteer Years of Service Pin, recognizing her as instrumental in delivering Girl Scout programming to girls for more than 50 years.
The Girl Scouts highlighted Ms Walshâs exemplary dedication to the Girl Scout organization over the years, noting that it reveals an incredible commitment to helping build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.Â
Additionally, two other Newtown women, Robbin Allen and Cat Federchek, were among those awarded the prestigious Girl Scout Appreciation Pin at the meeting.
A national recognition for adult Girl Scouts, the Appreciation Pin recognizes a member who practices the values of inclusive behavior and who has delivered outstanding service above expectations to at least one geographic area within the state they serve.
Robbin Allen has provided outstanding leadership, support, and direction to more than 500 girls and 300 adults in the Newtown Service Unit. She ran numerous events, including the 100th Anniversary Masquerade Ball. She runs the Service Unitâs annual coat drive and book swap, which benefits Girl Scouts, schools, libraries, and local charities. She is also the public relations representative for Newtown events and activities, all while working full-time.Â
Cat Federchek has held more than three programs this past year alone that helped retain 58 troops, amounting to 215 Girl Scouts in grades 5â12. Her troop holds a Dove Real Beauty Experience event, which gives eighth graders the opportunity to speak with high school students. She has organized camporees for girls in grades 5â8 in the fall to keep girls excited about the Girl Scout experience.
All of the recipients of this yearâs Appreciation Pin are inspiring, dedicated Girl Scout volunteers with a deep commitment to building girls of courage, confidence and character.
