Dog Shooting Leads To Cruelty Charge
Police said they charged a local man with cruelty to animals and unlawful
discharge of a firearm in connection with a dog incident at his 17 Pebble Road
residence on the afternoon of June 6.
Police said that after the girlfriend of John Savo, 21, was bitten by his
family's pet rottweiler, Savo shot the dog in the head with a shotgun in his
yard, killing the dog.
Savo then started to transport his girlfriend to Danbury Hospital for
treatment when he flagged down police to aid him, police said.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported the woman to the hospital
for treatment after which she was released, police said.
Police charged Savo in the case, releasing him for a June 19 appearance in
Danbury Superior Court.
