Fairfield University Hosts Free Lectures
FAIRFIELD â University College at Fairfield University is offering a series of free lectures to the public this fall. The lectures will take place in the Multimedia Room of Fairfield Universityâs DiMenna-Nyselius Library.
In conjunction with St Vincentâs Medical Center, University College will present two lectures on Health and Wellness. The first, âTake Control of Your Heart,â will be delivered on Tuesday, October 7, at 1 pm, by Dr Jose Missri, MD, FACC, chairperson, Cardiovascular Medicine, St Vincentâs Medical Center. Anthony R Iorio, DPM, MPH, will deliver the second, âOh, My Aching Feet,â which will take place on Tuesday, October 21, at 1 pm.
Professor Edwin Williams, president of TraveLearn, will deliver âChina: The Sleeping Giant Awakes,â on Thursday, October 9, from 10 am to noon. Prof Williams has been traveling to China since the early 1980s and has witnessed firsthand Chinaâs spectacular economic growth since the inception of its âfree market economy.â The one hour presentation will be followed by a question and answer session, during which Prof Williams will respond to questions about Chinaâs past and present as well as answer travel questions or concerns of those possibly planning a trip to China.
On Thursday, November 6, Dr Steve Sobel will provide the audience with his unique ideas on bringing more laughter, joy, and optimism into their lives with a 2 pm lecture, âLaugh More, Live Longer.â The lecture is presented in conjunction with St Vincentâs Medical Center and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
