Workshops On End-Stage Dementia, Hospice

Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut announced workshop topics for June programs at the Newtown Senior Center.

Find out what the symptoms of end-stage dementia are, and how hospice can help you and your loved one at a workshop sponsored by Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut, Inc, titled “End-Stage Dementia and Hospice” on Friday, June 15.

Lunch will be served at noon, and the program begins at 1 pm.

“Diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and stroke may cause patients to have symptoms of dementia,” said Linda Pinckney, who will present this workshop with  clinical staff from Regional Hospice and Home Care.  “Over time the symptoms may progress until the patient can no longer care for himself.”

The workshop will review common symptoms that are indicative of end-stage dementia and how hospice care can help both patients and caregivers.

Regional Hospice and Home Care is a nonprofit home care and hospice agency that offers real hope for those facing advanced illness through patient-focused care, education, resources, and advocacy.

The agency helps patients and families discover what end-of-life care can be — what can be gained, what can be realized, and what can be recaptured.
