Social Post Should Not Confuse Those Planning To Attend Newtown Day
No question about it — Newtown Day is happening on Saturday, October 6, from 11 am to 5 pm, at Fairfield Hills.
A Facebook post made on September 24 by a vendor who administered the 2017 Newtown Food Truck Fest states that this year’s event has been canceled, leading several individuals to contact the Newtown Chamber of Commerce wondering what happened.
But according to a representative, the chamber and its event partner — Newtown Parks & Recreation — decided to rebrand and expand this year’s event to offer much more than just food trucks, although many food trucks will be on hand serving visitors to Newtown Day on October 6.
Organizers recently added new attractions, including an inflatables area for kids of all ages to bounce around, and are poised to release a parking finder map that will help visitors to Newtown Day find the easiest and most convenient locations to park.
Adults can enjoy the Brew Garden managed by Chilled ‘N Distilled, featuring Down East Cider, Bad Sons’ Brews: Light Rider, Wayward Sons, Doobious IPA, and Conn Pale Ale. A red and a white wine selection will also be available.
The Brew Garden will be serving from noon until last call at 4:30 pm.
Shuttle buses will be provided from Newtown High School and Newtown Middle School to the Fairfield Hills campus. Parking for the event has also been reserved at the Reed School and the Fairfield Hills Campus.
Newtown Day visitors should be aware that there are also activities planned for part or all day at both NYA Sport & Fitness and the Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard.
