Another SMART Summer

To the Editor:

Once again during the month of July the Reed School provided an environment in which children in grades K thru 6 were able to experience a world of creativity in science, music, art and drama. This was the 14th year of SMART, the summer arts program run by Newtown Continuing Education.

This program is only made possible through the efforts and support of the many people in the Newtown education system. Our heartfelt thanks go to Assistant Superintendent Alice Jackson, Principal Donna Denniston, and Assistant Principal Tony Salvatore and their wonderful secretarial staff, our nurses Pat Phillip and Sally Cox, the ever-helpful custodial staff Ron Paterson and Rich Mills, Dom Posca, John Verbanec, Jr, and Steve Carlson, as well as Michelle Hiscavich, Elissa Gellis, Dena Bonaventura, Michele Vontobel, Ed Wolf, Rebecca Gellis, and all of the volunteers, interns, and instructors.

In addition we would like to thank all of the parents who have allowed us the privilege of having their wonderful and talented children for four exciting weeks.
