Newtown Police Department on Monday issued a request that residents and business owners along the southern section of Walnut Tree Road plan on alternate routes for up to three months, while water main work is done.

“With the water main improvements being conducted in the area of Church Hill Road at Walnut Tree Hill Road the Newtown Police are asking all residents to use alternate routes if possible,” the department announced via press release.

Construction will extend up Walnut Tree Hill Road to Old Green Road and is expected to take approximately 90 days, according to the release.

“Residents will have local access as all businesses will remain open. If you will be traversing the area please expect delays,” the October 22 notice continued.

Roadwork in that area commenced last week.
