To Host Landscape & Scenics Program
Gary Spring, of Ritz Camera and Image in Danbury, will present a program of âThematic Landscape and Scenic Photographyâ at the Flagpole Camera Club meeting on Thursday, November 19, at 7:30 pm, in the C. H. Booth Library meeting room.
Mr Spring will touch on such subjects as themes, locations, equipment, camera settings and various other techniques. In addition, he will also serve as one of the three judges for the clubâs monthly competition.
Mr Spring served as the house photographer for The Brookfield Theatre for the Arts from 2000 to 2008, where many of his photographs are on display, and for Sherman Playhouse as well. Besides theater, some of his favorite themes include architecture, landscapes and scenics, community events, macro and nature photography.
âI prefer to capture my images naturally without digital alterations,â Mr Spring says.
For the past six years, Mr Spring has served as the senior instructor for Ritz Camera University Photo classes at the store on Newtown Road in Danbury. For photographic inspiration, Mr Spring has enjoyed shooting photos on the big Island in Hawaii, the Oregon and Maine coasts, Sedona and the Grand Canyon in Arizona and southwestern Colorado.
A graduate of Lycoming College, Williamsport, Penn., Mr Spring lives in Naugatuck.
âShadowsâ is the assigned subject for members of the Flagpole Club membersâ monthly competition. Prints of sizes up to 16 by 20 will be judged; the club has eliminated slide competitions. In addition, members may compete in an Open and Black and White Categories.
Members are reminded to arrive early for entering photos in the competition as the number has increased substantially and requires extra time before the meeting agenda can begin.
Information is available at the clubâs website, FlagpolePhotographers.com or by calling 203-426-2316.
