DANBURY — Richter Association for the Arts will host a presentation by the Gray School of Irish Dance on Sunday, September 27, at 3 pm, at Richter House, 100 Aunt Hack Road in Danbury.

The program will feature high energy dances performed by students  of various ages and by two of the school’s teachers, Christina and Craig  Ashurst, both of whom are former dancers in Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. The school has studios in Danbury, Newtown and Old Saybrook.

Soft and hard shoe dances will be demonstrated, including reels, jigs, hornpipes, contemporary and traditional set dances, as well as ceili dances.  The performers will be dressed in traditional Irish dance costumes.

In addition to the dazzling footwork within the performance, the audience will enjoy listening to beautiful upbeat Irish music.

The Gray School has been introducing children and adults of all ages to the artistry, athleticism, and joy of Irish dance for over 38 years. It has trained internationally distinguished dancers, including national champions and world medalists. Many of the school’s students have gone on to become professional performers in shows such as Riverdance and Lord of the Dance.

Light refreshments will follow the performance.

The event is being partially funded by Danbury Cultural Commission. Admission will be by freewill donation. Parking will be in the golf course lot, with handicapped parking in front of Richter House.
