Barbara Parr Cleveland

Barbara Parr Cleveland, 91, formerly of Bethel and Deland, Fla., died October 6, in Venice, Fla. Born in Danbury, April 6, 1921, she was the daughter of Louise and Albert Harkness.

Mrs Cleveland graduated from the Danbury State Teacher’s College in 1942. She began her teaching career in Bantam and relocated to Newtown, where she remained a devoted elementary school teacher for 32 years.

She and her husband, Frederick Parr, a principal in the Newtown elementary school system, were actively involved in Newtown life, especially with the Lions Club. They traveled extensively, and then retired to Florida in 1978. She became an avid golfer.

Mrs Cleveland was predeceased by her husbands Frederick Parr and Robert Cleveland, and a sister, Ethel Mullaney. She leaves her cousins Robert Robinson of Connecticut and David Harkness of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews related to her and Mr Parr.

Burial services are private, at the convenience of the family.
