Shoplifting

Police said they responded to a shoplifting complaint from the Super Stop & Shop supermarket at Sand Hill Plaza on South Main Street about 12:15 pm October 3.

After investigating, police said they charged Deirdre Walsh, 38, of 2 Old Town Road with sixth-degree larceny. After processing, police released Walsh on a written promise to appear in court on October 17.

Parking Lot Theft

At about 9:40 am on September 27, a male who was driving a gold-colored Ford Explorer sport-utility vehicle entered the parking lot at Newtown High School at 12 Berkshire Road and then proceeded to break into two parked vehicles, police said.

The unidentified male stole some car audio equipment and some Global Positioning System (GPS) automotive navigation gear from the vehicles, after which the male drove away.

The Ford is missing a right rear wheel cover, police said. Police are investigating and ask anyone with information on the identity of the thief to contact them at 270-8888.

Obtuse Road

Police report a two-vehicle accident on Obtuse Road, near Newbury Road, about 10 am October 2.

Motorist Lisa Lampell, 40, of New York City, was driving a 2000 Cadillac Seville sedan southward, as motorist Barry Burton, 59, of Woodbury was driving a 2001 Ford truck northward there, police said.

The Cadillac crossed the road’s centerline on a curve and collided with the Ford, police said. There were no injuries.

Police issued Lampell an infraction ticket on a charge of failure to drive to the right.

 

Toddy Hill Crash

Police responded to a two-vehicle accident about 12:12 am October 3 on Toddy Hill Road.

Southbound motorist Hien Nguyen, 50, who was driving a 2000 Toyota Camry, braked on a curve and was struck from behind by southbound motorist Brenda Xayarath, 35, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban, police said.

Xayarath initially reported injuries, but later refused medical attention, police said. Xayarath received an infraction ticket for following too closely.
