Genealogy Club To Meet June 11
Genealogy Club To Meet June 11
The Genealogy Club of Newtown will meet at the C.H. Booth Library on Wednesday, June 11, at 7 pm.
Tim Jacobs, professor of sociology and anthropology at Naugatuck Community College, will discuss his research and how to break down âstone walls.â
Mr Jacobs is a professional genealogist and a member of the Connecticut Professional Genealogists Council, the Connecticut Society of Genealogists, and the New England Historic Genealogical Society. He is the founder and president of the Society of Descendants of Pirates and Privateers, the president of the Winthrop Society, genealogist of the Society of Descendants of the Founders of Hartford, and co-founder and registrar of the Society of Descendants and Founders of Haddam, Conn. He is also registrar for the Connecticut societies of the Order of Founders and Patriots of America, the Society of Colonial Wars, and the Society of the War of 1812.
Mr Jacobs has documented his lineage to five Mayflower families, and has documented 51 Revolutionary War ancestors in his lineage. Being a New Englander, he refers to those genealogical trouble spots as âstone walls,â which differ from brick walls.
Meetings of the genealogy club are held on the second Wednesday of each month at the C. H. Booth Library. Club members are from Newtown, Shelton, Brookfield, Danbury, Trumbull, Redding, Southbury and New Milford. All are welcome to attend.
