Genealogy Club Meeting, Oct. 11
Genealogy Club Meeting, Oct. 11
âLeaving No Stone Unturnedâ will be the presentation offered by Alex Woodle, a professional with New England Historical Genealogical Society (NEHGS), during the next Genealogy Club of Newtown meeting.
The club meets on the second Wednesday of each month, so the next meeting will be on October 11.
Mr Woodle has been conducting family research for the past ten years, having grown up in a family where the oral tradition of family history was shared. His research culminated in the film production for the Ellis Island Foundation about the Woodleâs ancestral roots. The film is on permanent display at the Museumâs American Family Immigration Center in New York.Â
Mr Woodle has published genealogical articles for NEHGSâs e-newsletter, Avotaynu, the international journal of Jewish genealogy; and the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Boston. He has also given talks to numerous genealogical groups, presented at genealogical conferences and helped to produce a video on Jewish genealogy for beginners.
While he specializes in Jewish genealogy, Mr Woodle does not restrict himself in his research pursuits. A recent clientâs family had him chasing down records in England and Australia.
Other specialties include 19th and 20th Century immigrant research, Dutch genealogy, US Census research, city directories and vital records anywhere. Mr Woodle uses his Internet research skills to âleave no stone unturnedâ in searching for family history.
Meetings are in the of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street. For further information call Mary Maki at 426-3889.
