Bristol Fiddlers At Roxbury Town Hall

ROXBURY — The Bristol Fiddlers will be performing at Roxbury Town Hall, 29 North Street, on Saturday, September 19, from 2-4. Suggested donation is $5.

Since 1972, Connecticut’s Bristol Old Tyme Fiddlers Club has helped to “preserve and promote” old time fiddling by playing “old barn-style” square dance tunes like “Turkey in the Straw,” “Golden Slippers” and “Irish Washerwoman,” to name a few. The dynamic group of musicians, whose ages range from 12 to 92, play fiddle, guitar, piano, banjo, mandolin, button box, accordion, spoons, harmonica, banjitar and percussion along with wood block and cow bell.

For over 30 years, the Bristol Old Tyme Fiddlers, under the direction of Gerry Lagace, have charmed audiences with their group and solo playing of toe-tappin’ and footstompin’ upbeat tunes. This so called “happy music” can tease smiles and hand clapping which, now and then, gets a spontaneous dance from even the most “polite” audience.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Roxbury Senior Center.

Roxbury Town Hall is handicapped accessible and refreshments will be served. Call the Senior Center at 860-210-0056 for additional information and directions.
