Armed Forces Day Tribute Jamboree This Weekend
Armed Forces Day Tribute Jamboree This Weekend
The Roger Sprung Band and The ShoreGrass Band will headline an Armed Forces Day Tribute being planned for Saturday, May 15, at Edmond Town Hall.
For anyone who enjoys bluegrass, country, folk, western and swing music, the evening will offer the opportunity to listen and dance to all of these styles. The town hallâs gym will be filled with music from 6:30 to 10:30 pm thanks to live performances.
Folk music taken from the repertoire of Pete Seeger, The Kingston Trio, John Hartford, and others will also be heard, as will traditional tunes that have been famous for decades.
Newtownâs own Roger Sprung, a world-champion banjo player, will be featured. A living legend in folk music circles, Mr Sprung has studios in Newtown and New York City and is credited with creating what he calls progressive bluegrass.
Time will be set aside for requests from the audience, and dancing will be encouraged.
Refreshments will be available. Door prizes will be awarded during the evening.
Admission is by donation.
In addition to all of the music and other related goings-on, Charter Communications will have its mobile truck parked outside the town hall and three professionally-operated cameras will be recording the evening inside the gymnasium. The event will then be broadcast on Charter Channel 21 at a later date.
Call 426-4817 during evening hours for information.
