Federico To Present Next SCAN Program

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will be treated to a watercolor demonstration by Frank Federico on Wednesday, March 26, at 1:30 pm. The program will be in the lower meeting room at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole).

The public is invited to attend. Admission is free.

Frank Federico began his career as a boy in New Orleans. He painted vibrant landscapes of the bayou and sketched jazz musicians who played the clubs along Bourbon Street. Jazz played a significant influence on his art. In continuing his love for jazz, Mr Federico is a founding member of the Litchfield Jazz Festival and his art can be viewed annually at the event.

At home in Litchfield, Mr Federico is celebrated as both a master artist and teacher, having won awards in the American Watercolor Society, the Pastel Society of America, and the International Association of Pastel Societies. He leads art workshops both locally and internationally. He will be leading a workshop in May in pastel for Lyme Art Association.

He is also teaching and conducting critique sessions in watercolor at the West Hartford Art League throughout the spring.

Recognition of his vibrant painting and style has appeared in numerous publications and in March 2005 American Artist magazine featured his work in a six-page article.

Mr Federico has exhibited in many solo and group shows, including international exhibitions in Tokyo and Stockholm. He holds elected/signature artist membership in Allied Artists of America, Pastel Society of America, Degas Pastel Society, National Watercolor Society, and Rockport Art Association.

Reservations are not needed, but additional information is available by calling Ruth Newquist at 426-6544.
