Volunteers Needed To Help
Rebuild Lives After Loss
DANBURY â You can help grieving people overcome the emptiness that often accompanies loss. Regional Hospice seeks volunteers to assist with grief support offered by our Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children & Families and within the community.
A professional training program will be offered on September 15 and 16, from 9 am to 4 pm, at the agencyâs award-winning bereavement center at 73 Stadley Rough Road.
Bereavement volunteers play an important role in helping those who are grieving. Through personal visits and phone calls or assisting with group meetings, bereavement volunteers provide monitoring, support, and other assistance.
They reach out to help grieving people establish new relationships, discover new identities, and achieve independence during their time of healing. Healing Hearts programs are free of charge to anyone in the greater Danbury area and nearby communities.
A professionally led training program will provide an introduction to the hospice philosophy of patient and family care with a focus on supporting those who are experiencing grief and loss as they begin the process of rebuilding their lives. Specific training will also explore the unique needs of children.
The role of bereavement volunteers will be fully explained and opportunities to work with both adults and children will be discussed.
Anyone wishing to register for the training session should contact the Volunteer Department at Regional Hospice during weekday business hours at 739-8315. An interview, references, and a background check are required.
Registration closes September 3.
