Erin Murdoch and Chrissy Glander recently completed a successful summer softball season with the Connecticut Blue Devils U14 team The team compiled a 37-16 record while participating in eight tournaments (winning one and coming in second four times) in Canada, Maine, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Glander led the team with a Gold Glove performance at first base, hitting a solid .280 along the way. She was the teamâs MVP on defense, consistently making the great scoops and stretches. Murdoch, meanwhile, was the teamâs MVP on offense while leading the way in home runs, extra base hits and average (.367). Murdoch, who also led the team in stolen bases, played shortstop and the outfield.
Both girls will return in the spring to the Newtown High School softball program. Murdoch played varsity as a freshman, hitting .325, while Glander was the junior varsity first baseman.
