State Running Out Of License Plate Combos
WETHERSFIELD (AP) â Motor vehicle officials are planning to change the number and letter format on Connecticut license plates because the state is running out of combinations.
The Connecticut Post reports that the DMV will be switching the format in 2013 to two numbers followed by two letters and two more numbers, with a dot between the two letters. The current combination is three numbers followed by three letters.
Officials say the current format will run out of number and letter combinations in about 18 months. They say the new combination will last about four years before it runs out of combinations.
