Girls’ C/D Division

SHINING STARS 3, GATORADES 2: Their ice cream was sweet and well deserved as the Shining Stars celebrated evening an earlier season score with the Gatorades. The latter had jumped to a 2-0 lead early in the contest on goals from Katie Fuller and Amanda Lockwood. But the Stars had not yet begun to fight, awakening to even that score on two quick goals from Jessica Paynter while a Star defense keyed by sweeper Maggie Thoreson shut-down further Gatorade scoring for the half. Both sides came out swinging in the second half, however, with steel-nerved Star goaltending from Sarah Gutbrod blunting a barrage of shots from Katie Fuller while the Gatorade defense itself, led by Kristen Landolfi, stubbornly refused to yield against repeated Star attacks. Finally, with less than a minute of play remaining, Elizabeth (Biz) Bowen broke past the Gatorade fullbacks for a dramatic game winning score . . . and trip to the ice cream parlor!

DYNAMITES 4, BLUE DUCKS 0: Amber Finlayson scored two goals while Aileen Kerns and Amanda Roy added solo goals to lead the Dynamites to the win. Elaine McCafferty, Jillian Laub and Sally Tabler provided assists. For the Ducks, Lindsay Chimileski, Jenna Zigman and Alyssa Gross all had solid games.

Boys’ E Division

FLASH 3, THUNDERBIRDS 2: Alex Hamilton led the Flash back from a 2-0 deficit with a score on a break away. Matt Brede added two goals in the second half to put the Flash in front. Alan Schwartz played great anchoring the defense while Tyler Adams played well on defense and offense. For the T-Birds, Peter Griffiths aced a penalty kick and scored one from the field while Kyle DiNicola supported the offense. Nick Ciarelli and Derek Mazo played well on defense.

Girls’ E Division

FLYING PIGS 4, YANKEES 0: Allison Jagoe scored a pair of goals while Meaghan McCann and Evan Cerreta had solo goals to lead the Pigs to the win. Emily Lockhart and Nicole Alberico played well. For the Yankees, Joanna Barry, Brianna Barry and Jennifer O’Connell had strong games.

DRAGONS 0, WILDCATS 0: Vanessa Hansen, Shaina Musco, Katie-Rose McNulty and Heather Young all played well in a tie.

DRAGONS 3, TIGERS 0: Melissa Paynter scored a pair of goals and Christina Sanchez added one to lead the Dragons to the win. Nicole Frey played well. For the Tigers, Sarah Shannon, Jessica Lively and Nicole Haylon had good games.

Boys’ F Division

SENSATION 4, RAPTORS 0: Connor Collier and Jason Kostecki each scored a pair of goals to lead the Sensation to the win. Brian Murphy and Ryan Cahalane had solid games. For the Raptors, Joe Fedak and Conor Carmen played well on offense while Kyle Desrochers and Tim Zimmerman had strong defensive games.

CHARIZARDS 3, SENSATION 2: Andrew Domingos scored a pair of goals and Daniel O’Connor added one to lift the Charizards to the win. Moritz Ehlert and Ryan Daley played well. For the Sensation, Connor Collier and Ryan Cahalane had one goal apiece. Grant Brown and Timmy Culligan had solid games.

CHARIZARDS 3, SALTY PUPS 2: Andrew Domingos scored a pair of goals and Nathaniel Burns added one as the Charizards edged the Salty Pups. Evan Batzer had a good game. For the Pups, Timmy Lacouture, Ryan Goodridge and Adam Wenick had great games.

LASERS 2, RAPTORS 0: Daniel Greenwood scored a pair of goals to lift the Lasers to the win. Adam Buccino, Alex Kron and Nathan Barrett provided solid defense. For the Raptors, Mike Shevlin, Joseph Fedak, Connor Carman and Evan Kennedy all had good games.

ROADRUNNERS 2, LASERS 0: Joseph Capiello and Spencer Snell scored goals to lead the Roadrunners past the Lasers. Drew Woods, Gary Frey and James Truckle provided excellent defense. For the Lasers, Matt Iassogna, Jacob Dauz, Luke Fiore and Nick Wolf played well.

Girls’ F Division

TORNADOES 4, TIGERS 0: Chelsea Fay, Kate Bowen, Cassie David and Sarah Feinstein all scored to lead the Tornadoes past the Tigers. The Tigers were led by Samantha Lockhart, Natalia Villa, Katie O’Dell and Stephanie Sanchez.

BOMBERS 2, MEAN MACHINE 1: Kasey Schulz and Lindsay Lively scored one goal apiece as the Bombers nipped the Mean Machine. Amanda Grega and Leigh Gerrety led the defense. For the Mean Machine, Kristine Zadrovitz scored the goal while Kayla Hoffman, Jacey Johns and Amanda Sweat powered the defense.

DOLPHINS 4, HURRICANES 1: Tania Domingos scored four goals as the Dolphins swam past the Hurricanes. Maura McDade offered some offensive support while Brooke Untiedt and Lindsay Friedman anchored the defense. For the ‘Canes, Riley Stauffer scored the goal as Jackie Fisher, Meredith LaPerch, Kelsey Decesare and Zoe Seavey all had exceptional games.

TIMBERWOLVES 0, PUFFINS 0: Kelley Sullivan and Emily Brestovansky led the defensive effort for the T-Wolves while Molly Nostrand and Devon Ferris had good overall efforts. For the Puffins, Ashley Leifels and Meghan Bridges spurred on the offense while Anna Marie Unshuld and Katelyn Vayan secured the shutout.

Boys’ U10 Travel

VIPERS 6, REDDING 0: Alex Bowen and Kevin Troy scored two goals apiece while Gregg Rodden and Chris Meier scored one apiece as the Vipers exploded against Redding. Tony Gallucci and Nick Kallivrousis anchored the midfield and set up the offense while Jason Smith and a goaltending quartet of Justin Miller, Drew Taylor, Bowen and Max Hoagland led the defense.

VIPERS 3, NEW FAIRFIELD 0: Newtown stood on top of the Northwest Division I after a 3-0 win over New Fairfield. The two teams went into the game with identical 6-1 records but with Justin Miller and Paul Andras scoring a goal apiece (New Fairfield added an own goal), the Vipers won their seventh. Danny Smith was solid in the net for Newtown while Kevin Davies, Jason Smith and Chris Meier anchored the defense.

Girls’ U11 Travel

NITROS 7, MIDDLEBURY 0: Adding one more offensive sweep to the record, the Nitros are now 7 - 0. This weeks highlights include a hat trick by Kyla Miles, goals by Erica Vacaro, Darcy Fiscella, Kristi Nowak and Nicole Sieber. Sara Peters offered an assist and Jennifer Greenwood helped played well in midfield.

NITROS 8, DANBURY 0: Maggie DeMarco turned in four goals for the Nitros while Kristene Salbu, Meredith Palo and Emma MacHugh shared time in goal for the shut-out. Jennifer Greenwood and Shannon Kirch provided offensive support as additional goals were scored by Nicole Sieber (2), Darcy Fiscella and Kyla Miles.

Boys U11 Travel

RAGE 3, WILTON 2: Aron Fay, Brian Shimko and Jack Quinn all scored as the Rage rallied for a win over Wilton. Michael Murphy and Ross MacLeod assisted in the Shimko goal. Stephen Marks made some outstanding saves in goal.

RAGE 5, SOUTHBURY 0: Ross MacLeod, Nick Sando, Joseph Rahtelli, Brian Shimko and Michael Klein all scored to lead the Rage to the win. Mike Kennedy and Bill McCann dominated the midfield. Justin Durelli and Brian Conroy were strong on defense.

Girls’ U13 Travel

KNOCKOUTS 4, RIDGEFIELD 0: Katelyn Fenton scored a pair of goals while Kristen Davis and Karoline Engel scored one apiece to lead the Knockouts to the win. Caitlin Weber and Sarah Salbu contributed strong passing throughout the game while Katie O’Connor was excellent in goal, recording the shutout.

WATERTOWN 5, KNOCKOUTS 2: Katelyn Fenton scored a pair of goals, but they weren’t enough. Megan Regnery and Amanda Shevlin had solid games in the midfield while Emma Mueller and Tara Ryan played well on defense.

Boys’ U14 Premier

STRIKERS 9, PLAINVILLE 0: Mathew Miller scored three goals and Mike Vanasse added two as the Strikers bombarded Plainville. Mike Bonsignore, Ryan Taplin, Marcus Tracy and Sean Rawson each added a score. Jeff Bunaska and Devon Manfredonia controlled the Newtown defense with stopper David Anderson denying the Plainville offense. Ryan Keogler and Peter Dittmar played well in the midfield.
