To The Troops

To the Editor:

I am writing to encourage Newtown residents of all ages to participate in Valentines For Troops New-town. Valentine’s Day provides the perfect opportunity for a concentrated townwide and regionwide effort which says “Thank you!” in a personal way to troops serving in locations around the world.

There are many ways you may participate. There are drop-off locations around Newtown where you may donate healthy food treats, magazines, DVDs, CDs, small trinkets such as scented candles, photos of local New England scenes and even dog treats for therapy dogs serving with the troops. Monetary donations will help this effort succeed, also. A personal “Thank you!” letter written from the heart would, of course, be a special contribution to this effort.

What a great opportunity for all of us to acknowledge the sacrifices of our troops.
