Mitchell And Goodrich Photo Exhibit And Reception At Library

Mary Mitchell and Al Goodrich, two longtime Newtown residents, will be displaying about 80 or their favorite photographs at the library for the month of April. The exhibit is titled “Ten Years of Fun with Photography” and includes a wide variety of subjects.

Some are familiar Newtown scenes such as Newtown’s historic Main Street, landmark historic houses, and Cavanaugh Pond. Other feature faraway places such as Trinidad-Tobago, Butchart Gardens, and scenes from out west. Also included in the show will be photos of children, tulips, architecture, and even a category called “What Is It?”

On Sunday, April 8, from 2 to 4 pm the library will host a reception in celebration of their work. The public is invited to enjoy refreshments, view the photos, and meet the two talented photographers.

Mr Goodrich and Mrs Mitchell have worked on numerous projects together in the past to benefit Newtown, including The History of Newtown (published in  1989 by the League of Women Voters); five editions of Newtown Trails Book, the proceeds of which benefit the library; and Touring Newtown’s Past, which is a fundraiser for Newtown Historical Society.

The two friends continue to enrich their community, this time by sharing their lovely collection of photographs.

Call the library at 426-4533 for additional information. The library is at 25 Main Street.
