Christ The King Vacation Bible School Aug. 7–11

Christ the King Lutheran Church is getting ready for its annual Summer Evening Vacation Bible School, but spaces are still available for those who would like to attend.

This year’s Vacation Bible School (VBS) will run from Sunday, August 7, through Thursday, August 11. Sessions run from 6 to 8 pm each evening, although Sunday will begin a little earlier — at 5:30 — and will include a welcome BBQ.

The theme for Christ the King’s 2011 VBS is “Big Jungle Adventure: A Faith Journey with Jesus.” The overall program is based on a course by Concordia Publishing House, and is based on 2 Timothy 4:18: “The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into His heavenly kingdom. To Him be the glory forever and ever.”

Additional stories from the bible will focus on the work of Jesus for His beloved children.

The free program is open to children entering kindergarten through grade 6. Parents should note that membership in Christ the King is not needed to enroll their children in the special event.

VBS will offer children plenty of games, arts and crafts, special activities such as rescue adventures and treasure hunts. Light snacks will also be provided.

Reservations are requested so that organizers can place children into the appropriate age group and have materials ready in time for the first night of VBS.

To register a child send e-mail to Diane Vertucci at Husky523@yahoo.com. Additional information about VBS is available from Joanie Minor (203-364-1919 or JoanieMinor66@hotmail.com) or Katja Pieragostini (203-837-7779 or Kpier@ymail.com).

Christ the King Lutheran Church is at 85 Mt Pleasant Road, at the upper intersection with Tory Lane. The church office can be reached at 203-426-6300.
