Porco's Karate Holds Fall Gup Test
Porcoâs Karate Holds Fall Gup Test
Porcoâs Karate Academy recently held its quarterly testing event. Participants include students, of various ages and ranks, from Porcoâs Sandy Hook studio. Students study the 3,000-year-old Korean art of Tang Soo Do, a karate focused on self-defense and self-betterment. In two hours, the students demonstrated their abilities to a panel of instructors.
The test cycle involves a variety of demonstrations of physical and mental prowess.
This is shown through hand and foot technique combinations, forms, weapon forms, defense techniques involving hands, feet, and grabs, free fighting, rolls and break falls, and an oral test on different aspects of Tang Soo Do.
For each section, a black belt from the panel led the students in showing Master Michael Porco Sr what they can do through hard work and with high energy.
Everyone celebrated as each student received his or her new rank.
