Turner Construction 11, Newtown Youth Academy 10: Turner rallied to erase a seven-run deficit and scratch out the win. Nick Randle scored two runs and had two hits, including the game-winning double that knocked in the tying and winning runs. Jacob Nezvesky doubled and came on in relief to hold off the talented NYA nine. Trevor Palmer singled and scored twice and Hunner Mears scored twice, including the game winner. Griffin Davis went 3-for-3 and Michael Doyle, Ethan Carpenter, Jack Procachinni, Patrick Briscoe and Justin Tran had hits. Pitcher Bryan Kiley made his debut and allowed no walks or runs for one inning. Justin Tran contributed strong defensive play.
Richâs Keys and Locks 9, Roche Inc 2: David Matthews hit a triple and a double and had 4 RBI. Matt Elias had two hits and added 2 RBI. Devin Lizietti, Matt Hess, Erik Street (two stolen bases), Curtis Williamson (two stolen bases) and Andrew Svanda added hits. Curtis Williamson, Devin Luzietti, Matt Elias and David Matthews pitched well. Erik Street had another good defensive play at first. Luke Rustici pitched well for Roche. Kyle Mcgrath had a key kit in the game. Micheal Roche played well defensively.
Roche Inc 8, Richâs Keys and Locks 7: Erik Street, Jake Courchene-Roy, Matt Hess and Justin Appley pitched well for Richâs Keys and Locks. Devin Luzietti had two hits And David Matthews blasted his second home run of the weekend. Kyle Keeping played well defensively. Jared Devellis played well defensely. Alex Daignault had 2 RBI.
Frozen Ropes 5, Turner Construction 2: For the Frozen Ropes, both Kendall Ashby and Michael OâKeefe scored key runs after working out walks. Nick Samuelson smacked an RBI single driving in Dillon Palumbo who started the rally with a single. Joe Duero pitched a scoreless inning. For Turner, Joey Carrino crushed a deep triple in the alley to spearhead the comeback attempt. Robbie McCabe pitched a scoreless first inning, striking out 3, and Julia âNailsâ Monaco scratched out a walk and scored a run.
Frozen Ropes 3, Smith Miller Construction 0: Mason Melillo had a hit and pitched well for Smith Miller Construction. Patrick Berger pitched well and Zach Hamar played solid defense in the loss. For Frozen Ropes, Tim Krapf had two hits including a two-run homer. Nathan Fitzgerald and Alex Klang both laced singles to start a rally. Matt Maturo pitched a perfect inning.
Smith Miller Construction 3, Newtown Youth Academy 1: For Newtown Youth Academy, Albert Dean, Griffin Davis and Michael Doyle pitched no-hit ball for 3 innings. Griffin Davis was 2-for-2 while Patrick Briscoe and Jack Procachinni singled and Ethan Carpenter doubled. Great defensive plays by Ryan McIntyre, Nick Beougeouis and Shawn McCarthy aided the effort. Mason Melillo and Michael Parker knocked in key runs to lead Smith Miller construction to victory. Connor Miller scored a run and Daniel Hamula played solid defense.
Smith Miller Construction 7, Roche Inc 3: Connor Miller had a triple and Russel Jacobs had a key single to knock in 2 runs to lead Smith Miller Construction. Declan Sullivan had a single and Keaton McCleary scored a key run.
Newtown Shell 2, Richs Keys and Locks 1: David Matthews and Matt Elias pitched well. Matthews added the only hit and Erik Street made two great stops at first base. For Newtown Shell, Liam Palilla pitched a perfect final inning. In the field, James Accousti made a nice swipe at second to pick off the baserunner for the last out of the first inning. Tim Vander Have hit a double with two men on to win the game.
Richs Keys and Locks 7, Newtown Shell 6: For Richâs Keys and Locks, David Anderson, had a key hit and David Matthews hit a 3-run homerun deep over the right field wall. Andrew Swanda played well in the field. Justin Appley pitched well. Kyle Keeping had a great defensive play at second. For Newtown Shell, Zach Aumueller pitched another perfect inning in his second outing of the year. Holden Turk stayed hot at the bat with another two base hits. In the field, Stephen Brittin provided solid defense both atshortstop and behind the plate as catcher.
Frozen Ropes 2, Richâs Keys & Locks 2: Matt Elias and Matt Hess scored the two runs for Richâs Keys and Locks. David Matthews and Curtis Williamson added a key hits. Down two runs entering the last inning, Matt Maturo led the Frozen Ropesâ comeback by lacing a two-out triple. Tim Krapf walked setting the stage for Jared Brady who ended an eight pitch at-bat by stroking a single to drive in both runs to tie the game. Brady then pitched a scoreless bottom of the inning to preserve the tie.
Championship Game:
Richâs Keys and Locks 3, Smith Miller Construction 2: Curtis Williamson, Devin Luzietti, Matt Elias and David Matthews pitched well for Richâs Keys And Locks all weekend. Jared Pearson had a good defensive play at third. Matt Hess sacrificed to score Matt Elias to tie the game in the last inning. Dave Matthews scored the winning run. James Leuci made two good defensive plays and Connor Miller threw a runner out at home to support Smith Miller construction. Michael Parker, Patrick Berger, Declan Sullivan, Connor Miler and Mason Melillo pitched well all weekend to lead Smith Miller to a second place finish.
