Booth Library Summer Reading Program Will Wrap This Weekend

The summer reading program, Books Take You Places — Read America, at C.H. Booth Library officially ends August 19. All reading reports must be completed by that day to qualify for the reading incentives.

Nearly 500 children have signed up for the reading program. To date, approximately 4,200 books have been read. The map of the United States is only 80 percent colored in; eight states are left to be filled.

Young adult volunteers are on duty during all library open hours to listen to book reports; don’t wait until the last minute.

Lana Meloni, children’s librarian, hopes to reach the goal of 5,000 books read this summer. “In year’s past, we’ve reached 3,000 easily. So the goal of 5,000 isn’t to much of a stretch,” Ms Meloni said. “We’ve had 35 volunteers this summer, listening to the children reporting on their books.”

Just 800 books to go; help complete the map of the United States.
