Gretchen S. Schaufelberger

Gretchen S. Schaufelberger, real estate agent with the William Pitt Real Estate Agency in Danbury, died January 16 in Danbury Hospital. Mrs Schaufelberger was the wife of Roy Schaufelberger and lived at Boggs Hill Road in Newtown.

She was born in Pittsburgh, Penn., daughter of the late John and Louise Smitmans. She was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where she received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. She was employed as a chemist for several years for Union Carbide in Pittsburgh, Penn., and New Jersey.

Mrs Schaufelberger moved to Newtown in 1979 and worked for William Pitt Real Estate since 1983.

She was a member of the National Association of Realtors and a communicant of St Rose Church.

She is survived, besides her husband, by three daughters, Lynn Anne Schaufelberger of Indianapolis, Ind., Paula and her husband, Andrew Carrol of Danbury and Ruth S. and her husband, Cecil Cooper of Ft. Worth, Tex. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Kasey and Ashley Honings and Shannon Carrol.

Funeral services were held January 19 from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown and at St Rose Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial was at the convenience of the family.
