Kids On Campus Camp Still Available

WATERBURY — Still searching for an exciting summer enrichment opportunity for your child? Naugatuck Valley Community College has extended the registration deadline for its popular Kids-On-Campus program.

Now in its 20th year, KOC provides instructive fun for students who will be entering grades four through 10 in the fall. This year’s two-week program begins on July 30 and runs through August 10. Seats are filling fast, but there is still space available in several classes. Registrations are being accepted up to the start of the program.

New courses include orienteering, the sport of navigating through the woods using a detailed topographic map and compass; calculated crafts, which explores the worlds of origami, quill pens, paper beads, and faux stained glass with mathematics lessons hidden within each project; and dance intensive, a program for teenagers ready to eat, sleep, and breathe dance.

In addition, a variety of past favorites are again being offered, including classes in sign language, cartooning, music composition, science, nature, theater, crime busting, architecture, world art, team games, and tennis.

Classes run from 9 am to noon and from 1 to 4 pm. Students who are registered for both morning and afternoon sessions will have a supervised lunch break from noon to 1 pm in the cafeteria. Students may bring a bag lunch or purchase their meals.

The cost of the program is $179 per course, plus lab fees. Classes are offered on a first come, first served basis. For course descriptions, visit the Web site at www.nvcc.commnet.edu/conted/koc or call 203-575-8029. NVCC is located off Exit 18 on Interstate 84.
