To the Editor:

I have to take a moment to thank the Newtown police for their attention and support this past week after my new car was stolen from my garage. They responded quickly and were not only efficient and professional but they were kind and compassionate regarding my loss. In addition, they me guided through the process, provided a well-written report, and have stayed in touch with me to check on how I'm doing and inform me of their progress.

In a time when police have been coming under such negative scrutiny, I feel like they went above and beyond in making me feel genuinely cared about. Even the dispatchers and other support staff I had occasion to work with were informed of my case and expressed their sadness and shock about my loss.

Thank you officers! You were great.
