Survivor Organization Needs Cancer Survivors Input
The Connecticut Challenge, a support organization for cancer survivors, is asking survivors to answer a ten-minute, online survey to help the organization better understand survivorsâ special health concerns and needs.
âEffective cancer treatments are, happily, creating a growing number of cancer survivors, but those treatments can be very harsh and survivors of all ages are at risk for suffering long-term effects on their health and quality of life from both their cancer and the treatments,â said Bob Mazzone, Connecticut Challenge executive director.
âThrough the development of very special survivorship clinics at Yale Cancer Center, we have taken the first steps to help survivors address their unique health needs,â he said. âBefore we take the next steps, we want to hear from survivors, through this survey, about their concerns and the resources they feel would benefit them the most.â
Mr Mazzone said the survey, which is completely anonymous, is only for people who have been diagnosed with cancer by their physician and have completed their active treatments.
The Connecticut Challenge is a nonprofit organization that funds investigation into the effects of cancer and cancer treatments on survivors and provides credible information and comprehensive resources to empower cancer survivors to lead healthier, happier and longer lives.
Founded in 2005, the organization currently funds Connecticutâs only two cancer survivorship clinics: the Connecticut Challenge Adult Survivorship Clinic and the HEROâS Clinic for survivors of childhood cancers, both at Yale Cancer Center. The Connecticut Challenge is also funding several Yale Cancer Center researchers in pilot studies of health issues facing survivors.Â
