Gina Belli, Newtown High School class of 1997, has been accepted at Boston College Graduate School of Education and will graduate from Hampshire College in Amherst, Mass., next month.

Gina Belli, Newtown High School class of 1997, has been accepted at Boston College Graduate School of Education and will graduate from Hampshire College in Amherst, Mass., next month.

Miss Belli taught her own second grade class at the Rice School on the San Carlos, Arizona, Apache Reservation last summer and fall. Upon her return to Newtown she spent two months with her mentor, Janice Bernard, in her second grade at Head O’ Meadow, then wrote her senior thesis comparing the two experiences.

Megan Gossling, daughter of Sandy Hook residents Mr and Mrs Paul Gossling, received the Lorraine Morel Memorial Award at Colby College recently. The annual award is given to a woman in the junior class who has made significant contributions to the academic and social life of the campus. She is a 1998 graduate of Newtown High School.

Emily Sheehan, a freshman at American University majoring in journalism in the School of Communication, was named to the fall 2000 dean’s list. Miss Sheehan is a resident of Sandy Hook.
