Home Instead Sponsors Senior Makeover Essay Contest

Home Instead Senior Care in Sandy Hook and Trumbull will host a “Senior Makeover Contest” at the Newtown Senior Center in Sandy Hook. Seniors throughout the Newtown, Danbury, Southbury region, females and males, are invited to participate in this “Why you, or someone you love, could use a free makeover” essay contest.

Leigh Schultz of Southbury, community service coordinator for Home Instead Senior Care, explained, “In 500 words or less, we are asking individuals to write an essay explaining why she or he, or someone they know, could use a free senior makeover.” The contest is open to seniors 65 years of age or older.

One female and one male winner will be chosen, and the winners will be announced at a senior makeover reception at 1 pm on Thursday, May 27, at the Newtown Senior Center.

“No purchase is necessary to enter this contest,” Schultz explained. “To enter, a senior only needs to write and submit their essay. The two winners, one female and one male, will each receive one outfit from a local department store, a haircut from Ricci’s Academy, a Swiss Skin Care consultation, plus before and after photos.”

The deadline for all entries is Thursday, May 20.

Home Instead Senior Care works with seniors and their families who live in 33 towns throughout northwest New Haven, northern Fairfield, and southern Litchfield Counties. An international network of independently owned and operated senior care franchises around the world, Sharon Massafra of Fairfield is the owner of the franchise based in Sandy Hook and Trumbull.
