'Art Buzz' Returning To Aldrich
âArt Buzzâ Returning To Aldrich
RIDGEFIELD â On Sunday, October 14, at 4:30 pm, The Aldrich Museum will transform one of its galleries into an intimate café setting. Visitors will then have the chance to meet and talk with Ridgefield native Jordan Tinker, an artist represented in the museumâs current exhibition, âJordan Tinker: Caudatowan 1986,â in the museumâs most recent installment of âArt Buzz.â
Artists featured in the âArt Buzzâ lecture series share slides of past and current work and talk with the audience about his or her evolution as an artist. Coffee is provided, and visitors are invited to meet and converse with the eveningâs featured artist in an engaging, informal discussion. Reservations are strongly recommended. Tickets are $8 per person.
For âJordan Tinker: Caudatowan 1986,â on view at the museum through December 30, Ridgefield native Mr Tinker has created an installation on the buildingâs third floor in which he remembers and reflects on his years at Ridgefield High School. The installation is about memory and its fallibility and includes small-scale portraits of every student in Mr Tinkerâs graduating class based on photographs from his high school yearbook.
On November 18, Edward Burtynsky will offer the next âArt Buzzâ installment. The Toronto-based artist appears in âBest of the Season: Selected Work from the 2000-01 Manhattan Exhibition Season.â
Mr Burtynsky will introduce some of his haunting industrial landscapes during his slide lecture. His photographs bring a surprising beauty to the brutal sites of marble quarries and tire dumps.
The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art is at 258 Main Street. For directions and reservations, call the museum at 203-438-4519. Museum hours are Tuesday through Sunday, noon to 5 pm.
