SOUTHBURY â Animals For Life, a volunteer, non-destroy animal rescue organization, will host its first Run For Rescue Go Dog Go! road race (in conjunction with its seventh birthday celebration and pet adoption) on Saturday, May 3, at Ballantine Park in Southbury.
The road race is being sponsored by H.H. Stone & Sons, Inc., of Southbury. Participants may choose to run a two-mile race with their canine companion or a 5K race that will be for humans only. Refreshments will be provided. Complimentary race packages will include specially designed t-shirts for human runners, bandannas for dogs, and many other fun and exciting surprises.
The shorter race will start at 8:30 am, with the longer race to kick off at 9 am. Pre-registration is recommended. Entry fee is $15 prior to April 24 and $20 after. Registration on the day of the event will be from 7 to 8 am.
The adoption will take place from 11 am to 3 pm, also at Ballantine Park. All animals have been thoroughly examined by a veterinarian and have received basic immunizations. A majority of the animals have also been spayed or neutered.
Throughout the adoption hours, there will be live music, a bake sale, face painting and a scavenger hunt for kids.
