Joseph R. Waite

Joseph R. Waite, 74, of Fairfield, an employee of the Connecticut Motor Club and the retired owner of the former Waite’s Service Center in Bridgeport, died on December 16 in Bridgeport Hospital.

He is survived by a son, David R. Waite and his wife, Deborah, of Newtown.

Born in Rumford, Me., Mr Waite had been a Fairfield resident for the past 48 years. He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II, and a licensed pilot who actively enjoyed flying. He was the husband of the late Marjorie (Stacey) Waite.

Survivors include four other children, John A. Waite and his wife, Barbara, of Stratford, Edward Waite of Fairfield, Lisa Marie Waite of Fairfield, and Duane J. Waite of Fairfield; a brother, James Waite of Rumford, Me.; a sister, Charlene Johnson of Rumford, Me.; six grandchildren, Michael, Jill, Cassandra, Cody, Jennifer, and Tyler Waite; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on December 21 in the Spear Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. Interment will take place on Friday, December 22, at 11 am in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport.
