*THE DOUG WAHLBERG BAND will headline on CityCenter Green tonight, with a show that starts at 7:30 pm and a special opening set The Screw-Ups, fronted by Julian Wahlberg.

Doug and the guys will also be performing at Levitt Pavilion the following night. Tommy Schulz will open that show, which will be at 40 Jesup Road in Westport.

*SUICIDE JACK, a four-man band with three members from Newtown, will be opening for SACRED OATH on Saturday at Tuxedo Junction in Danbury.

Patrick Kearney, the band’s vocalist, said this week that they’re definitely a hard rock band. “We like to play music that appeals to people who are interested in rock music, whether good old rock and roll to stuff that’s a little heavier, like heavy metal.

“We’ve been playing for a few years, but our current lineup, with new bass player [John Larson, also of Newtown], came into place a few months ago. We’ve been writing music, and have really been taking off since then.”

Additional member are guitarist TJ Maguire and drummer Chris Colby. The band’s music covers wide influences from Ozzy Osborne and Iron Maiden to Red Hot Chili Peppers, “things of that nature,” said Pat.

The club is on Ives Street in Danbury, and doors will open at 7:30. Kaliber will actually have the first set of the night, around 8, and then Suicide Jack is expected to be on stage around 8:30.

Tickets are $12 at the door, or $10 in advance (visit SacredOath.net/tour), and the show is open to all ages.

If you’re interested in hearing a little of what Saturday night will bring, visit Facebook and do a search for Suicide Jack. The band has posted three of its songs, “Drive,” “Overboard” and “Monkey March.”

The band is also working on getting at least one more show onto its calendar before the end of the summer, when college again beckons. I’ll let you know when that date is firm.

*OFF THE HOOK (Joe Proc on guitar and vocals, Steve Clark on bass and Abu on percussion) is signed up to play a series of Thursday night shows at Chao Chao in Sandy Hook. The trio will be at the new restaurant and lounge at 1 Glen Road on Thursdays, July 23, August 6 and August 20, from 7:30 to 11 pm.

They will also be featured at Redding Roadhouse on Friday, August 14.

Until next week I’ll be seeing you... on the road.
