âThrough Young Eyes:â
Student Art At Ridgefield Guild Of Artists
RIDGEFIELD â Weir Farm Art Center in cooperation with Weir Farm National Historic Site will presented its annual Art Explorer class exhibition, âThrough Young Eyes,â in the gallery at Ridgefield Guild of Artists. This yearâs exhibition is part of the ongoing celebration of the 300th anniversary of Ridgefield.
A collection of young artistsâ work created this summer by students at Connecticutâs only national park will be featured. The exhibition will run from August 20 to August 31, with an opening reception planned for Wednesday, August 20, from 6 to 7:30 pm.
This summer art instructors, Marc Chabot, Bruce Dunbar, Holly Fracassi, James Grashow and Liz Ward taught over 60 children innovative methods of drawing, painting and sculpture inspired by daily hikes to Weir Pond and in the Weir Preserve. Park Rangers Cassie Werne and Christopher Gezon led informative site tours each week to educate the children about the siteâs history.
The exhibition will highlight work by each student including a large soft sculpture flower mobile, gigantic fantasy birds hung from the rafters of the gallery, and an earthy sun print quilt featuring botanic specimens that were found in the Weir Preserve.Â
The Ridgefield Guild of Artists gallery, at 34 Halpin Lane, is open Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 4 pm. Admission is free. The gallery can be reached by calling 203-438-8863.
