Great Food At The Book Sale
To the Editor:
The Blue & White tent at the Annual C.H. Booth Labor Day Book Sale was the center of business. We successfully met the needs of those who wished to sit and eat or just bring a sweet treat. Even the yellow jackets didnât dampen our spirits or of those attending.
The onions continue to be a big hit for those wanting them on their hamburgers or hot dogs. We had three ladies chopping this year, Pat Denlinger, Mary Thomas, and Judy Craven. It is quite a task, to say nothing about the odor.
Thank you to our three guys â Dick Sturdevant, Joe Humeston and Peter Bagger for picking up ice for our coolers. Everything stayed nice and cool.
Thank you to Steve Uhde for manning the grill all three days and his helpers, Robert Keegan, Howard Bowles and Owen Carney.
Thank you to the following helpers who stayed with me putting in long hours: Darlene Spencer, Linda Uhde, Cliff Walker, Jeanne Roberts, Connie and Clarence Urso, Carolyn Cruson, Leigh Fiorito, Mary Anty, Carol, Bob and Brian Pious, Susan and Ed Small, Alana Meloni, Karla Spencer, Christina Tomasello, Ann Gautert, Philomena Conti, Liz Conti, Jocelyn Bagger, Lindsey Malmbourg, Chelsea Morin, Ethany Morin, Margee Czel, Kim Nash, Rachel Dapp, Tia Chatterjee, Jessica Horvath, and Brandon Leon-Gambetta.
Many thanks to the wonderful bakers we have in this town.
We could not have enjoyed this huge success without receiving donations from the following: Andreaâs Bakery, Bagelman, Big Y, Blue Colony, Burr Farm, Carminuccioâs Pizza & Subs, Costco, Crystal Rock Water, Drug Center, Dunkinâ Donuts, Ellieâs Deli, Fireside Inn, Georgeâs Pizza & Restaurant, Hilarios Super Variety, Italian Pavilion, My Place Pizza, Leoâs, Newtown Congregational Church, Newtown Hardware, Newtown General Store, Newtown Pizza Palace, Pizza Villa, 7-11, Stew Leonardâs, Stop & Shop, Thomasâs Deli, Craig and Connie Weatherup.
Again, thank you all.
