DECORATIVE ANTIQUES, TEXTILES FAIR WILL OPEN OCT. 2â7 IN LONDON
avv/gs set 8/30 #710923
LONDON â With 135 exhibitors drawn from across the United Kingdom and Europe, the Autumn Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair October 2â7 will be the largest ever held at The Marquee, Battersea Park. The fair is a source of period original design, from traditional town and country antiques to modern masters such as Gio Ponti and Andre Arbus.
At the moment, Twentieth Century design is a growing area of expertise at the fair (about a fifth of the exhibitors are specialists in this field), and one that offers an array of decorative items and furniture. Parchment or vellum-covered furniture, wall lights, crystal chandeliers, floor lamps, Venetian or starburst mirrors, silk upholstered sofas and Murano glass vases can all be found here.
Objects of grand scale, such as a 20-foot-long library table, a 7-foot-tall mirror, a wall-filling glazed cabinet, bookcase or armoire, an extendable Georgian dining table to seat 24, are all items that will be offered.
New exhibitors include Sarah Webb Upholstery with small furniture, Stothert & Trice from London with tribal artifacts, No Brown Furniture with Twentieth Century design, Le Style 25 with Art Deco furniture and decorative items, 1920 to 1950, and Architectural Heritage of Cheltenham with garden statuary, furniture and architectural antiques.
Highlights include English furniture, garden antiques, paintings and sculpture, carpets and kilims, kitchenalia, antique linens and fine textiles.
In the foyer, long-term exhibitor, dealer and artist Robert Barley will mount his first solo show of sculptures, which use found objects and precious artifacts. The sculptures will all be for sale. Barleyâs work is in private collections across the globe.
