Newtown Junior Women’s Club Donates Mural To Danbury Hospital

The Newtown Junior Women’s Club (NJWC) recently participated in PaintFest, a painting project purchased through The Foundation for Hospital Art that was painted by club members and then donated to Danbury Hospital for patients to enjoy and feel better throughout the healing process.

NJWC took on this project for two main reasons: to pay tribute to the local hospital and show appreciation for all the medical services they provide, and to promote club unity and celebrate the benefits of community service.

NJWC is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3), civic organization and a member of the statewide Connecticut Junior Women, Inc. This group of women combines their time, talents, and energies to benefit the community through service programs and donations to local organizations.

PaintFest Projects

The mission of The Foundation for Hospital Art is to give comfort and hope to those who suffer in hospitals by providing artwork at no cost to hospitals. Its vision is for hospitals throughout the world to become beautiful places for healing. The foundation’s quest is to donate at least one painting to every hospital on Earth.

With the hands and hearts of more than 500,000 volunteers, the foundation has donated more than 36,000 paintings to 3,000-plus hospitals and nursing homes in 194 countries. The Newtown Junior Women’s Club is proud to have contributed to the mission. The local club selected a six-panel mural, three panels wide by two panels high, that features a soft blue background and a tropical scene including a pair of toucans, butterflies, a cockatiel, and plenty of bright flowers.

PaintFest projects allow groups to work together, in a relaxed setting, with no artistic experience required. The resulting murals, often done on site, are then donated to a hospital or nursing facility, schools or children’s organizations.
