State Police Active During July 4 Weekend

During the four-day July 4 holiday weekend, state police stepped up their enforcement activity in Project CARE (Combined Accident Reduction Effort).

During the period, state police responded to 392 motor vehicle accidents, 63 of which involved injuries. There was one fatal motor vehicle accident.

State police issued 2,609 tickets. Of that number, they issued 1,646 speeding tickets, 303 seatbelt tickets, and 660 other miscellaneous tickets.

State police also made 63 drunk driving arrests.
