Park Due For New Bathrooms
The Parks & Recreation Department will be soliciting bids later this month for
the construction of a new bathroom facility at Dickinson Park.
The department received $100,000 in this year's operating budget for the
project. Director Barbara Kasbarian is hoping that the allocation will be
enough.
"I have my doubts. We had originally requested $150,000," she said.
The plan is to eliminate the existing bathrooms at the park's pavilion and
construct the new bathrooms at the opposite end of the pavilion. The new
facilities will be about the same size as the old ones but will be accessible
to handicapped persons.
"The bathrooms there now are not handicap accessible. In order to keep them,
we would have had to take out a stall in each bathroom," Mrs Kasbarian said.
The department will use the old bathrooms for storage.
