Youth Runners Come Out On Top

The Newtown Hawks Youth Cross Country team won the Winding Trails Invitational in Farmington, recently. The 2.1 miles races were won in record times by Newtown’s Olivia Hage in 15:17, and Riley Rising 13:39. This is the second course record in a succession set by Rising.

The Hawk boys’ top finishers included Joel Duval, second in 13:43, Connor McNerney, third 14:10, Jacob Steinebrey fourth in 14:21, Peter Fagerholm, fifth in 14:28, Dylan Bartlett, sixth in 15:44, and Jeff Nugent, seventh in 16:08.

For the girls, Maggie Beardsley outkicked an opponent to earn second place in 15:46, Julia DiMartino was fifth in 16:39, Rylee Mulligan came in seventh in 17:07, Madeleine Meier eighth in 17:22, Aniko Walsh 11th in 18:01, and Emma Riebe 12th in 18:02.
