Vets Office Opens In Danbury

ROCKY HILL — Commissioner Eugene Migliaro of the State’s Department of Veteran’s Affairs reminded area veterans today that the department’s information office will be open in Danbury on November 19. The office is located in the Connecticut Job Center, 152 West Street, and will be open the third Friday of every month between the hours of 9 am and noon.

Deputy Commissioner Tasi Vriga also heads up the department’s Office of Advocacy and Assistance, which will staff the office with a service representative. According to Mr Vriga, the office is providing area veterans with  many types of information and assistance.

“These include such things as helping veterans with their VA claims, medical referrals, and informing them of the many state and federal benefits available to Connecticut veterans,” he said. “The reason I wanted to open an office in Danbury,” Mr Vriga explained, “is that the nearest District Office is located in Waterbury, which made it inconvenient for the many veterans who live in this area of the state.”

The department’s Office of Advocacy and Assistance currently staffs full time offices in six of the state’s major cities. The Danbury satellite office has served more than three dozen veterans since it first opened in May. Having satellite offices opened on a monthly basis in all regions of the state has made it easier for Connecticut veterans to receive the services, benefits and information to which they are entitled.
